Inner Cabala was the first band that won a preliminary round for the Wacken Metal Battle Netherlands. Since this is an international band, they answered the questions to our interview in English. Let’s get to meet Inner Cabala!
For those who don’t know you yet, please introduce yourselves! Who are you, what do you do, where might people know you from?
We are Inner Cabala, an international post-metal band based in Groningen. Our members come from the Netherlands, Romania and Italy. You may have crossed us at one of our shows (for instance during last year’s ESNS) or at other local shows – we try to follow the local scene as closely as possible.
What did your preparation for the Metal Battle look like?
Some of our members now live out of town so we all do homework alone, to make rehearsals as efficient as possible when we manage to meet. The preparation for the metal battle was just in line with our usual preparation routine.
How did the performance go?
Do you have any use for the tips and tops you received from the jury?
We had a couple of technical issues, which is something that can happen when you have very little time to build the stage, but apart from that we were quite satisfied with our performance and with the crowd’s reaction! We will keep in mind the suggestions we received from the jury for the next round, of course, and we would like to thank them once again for the positive feedback.
If you hadn’t won, who do you think should have won?
We liked all the other bands, we were all covering quite different genres. Atmoran had very loud and clear riffs and BP9 very good energy on stage, but what we found Drovich the band with the most interesting ideas, they give black metal a nicely original and different twist.
What can we expect from you during the semi-finals?
We will work on tightening our performance both in terms of execution and stage presence even further. Our debut album will be released in the coming months so we’re looking forward to unfolding (part of) it in front of a dedicated audience such as the one from the Metal Battle!
If you haven’t yet, check out Inner Cabala on Facebook, and of course, listen to their music on Spotify. See you in the semi-finals!
