Bio:
Montany is a well-established name in the Dutch metal scene that has gained quite a reputation beyond their national borders as well. The band, consisting of Patrick van Maurik (Reviver (NL), Hellrock (FR)), Dirk Hoek (Cronus, Half Om), Tim Ruttenberg (Eager) and Marcel Chaudron (Causes of Puo), plays melodic metal with an emphasis on catchy songs, well-balanced rhythms and strong melodies. Montany’s music is created by musicians with a wide spectrum of musical tastes and influences of not only metal, but pop, rock and other music styles as well. Experimenting is a factor as each song contributes in its own unique manner to the distinctive sound of the band.
Live
On stage, Montany is best described as a well-oiled machine where enthusiasm, professionalism and experience are combined in a solid performance and with their extensive experience on Dutch and foreign stages, makes the heart of many metal-fans beat faster. The stage performance and catchy songs are very accessible so that even the non-metal / rock fans can get excited about the band’s performances and compositions. Throughout its career, Montany has played a number shows in venues and various festivals in the Netherlands and abroad, including Noordschok festival, Dijk Rock, Haringrock and Heavy Metal Maniacs Festival (Germany + the Netherlands). The band has also been welcomed on numerous radio stations to interview and to perform live.
World of Dreams
Their biggest achievement “World of Dreams” received favourable reviews in the German fanzine “Heavy oder was?”, amongst others. This recognition drew the attention of Hamburg Germany’s record-label LMP (Limb Music Productions). To which the band signed a contract for the release of their debut album.
Discography
Familiarity with the recording studio is something Montany knows well. Already in the winter of 2001, and after several recordings in different formations, the band, under the aegis of producer Uwe Lulis, recorded its debut album in the “Black Solaris Studios” in Frankfurt, Germany. The album titled “New Born Day” was released by LMP in early summer of 2002. On the adjacent promotional campaign in conjunction with Rhapsody (Italy), the band received much media attention especially from countries such as Germany and Italy with thereafter performances in the Netherlands and Germany followed. Since 2004, the band members have participated individually in different projects only to reunite in 2011. During the winter of 2012, the band returned to the studio again to produce their comeback self-release production called Biogenetic and to return again in 2022 with the mini album “ Perception of time”. Late 2022 Stefan Brederode decided to leave Montany, his replacement, Tim Ruttenberg, came over from Eager to join the ranks in 2023 completing the band again.
Sound
Owing to the variety of projects in which its members have worked, Montany’s music is unique. Their “Metal with a twist” has been influenced by bands such as Helloween, Kamelot, Queensryche and Iron Maiden. Nevertheless, Montany has created its own highly distinctive sound. And with the experience gained over the years, they are ready to step up to the next level and set foot once again on the stages all around Europe.
