SUOL – pre-order new album now!

Mysterious duo J. and P., apparently know from other bands as Shagor, Ossaert, Dinbethes and Weerzin, have connected to create some new black metal tunes. Under the name SUOL these two have just released a track called ‘Slot van Voorst’, a track about the arson of the Dutch city Zwolle.

“When diving into Zwolle’s history, SUOL encountered a story about a very prolific family in the 13th century: Baronial family Van Voorst. The Barons Van Voorst were very ambitious, were feared by city folk and traders alike, and managed to build up their own independent area of power around Zwolle with all kinds of tactics to increase their wealth. Operating out of Slot van Voorst and earning their reputation of robber barons, this inevitably led to the clash between Baron Zweeder van Voorst and the city of Zwolle. This led to the city council calling in the help of the bishop of Utrecht, Jan van Arkel. However, Baron Zweeder van Voorst was not pleased with this and, hot headed as Zweeder van Voorst was, things escalated quickly with the arson of Zwolle as a result. ‘Ruiten ende roven is gheen schande, dat doen die heren al die besten van den lande.’

Pre-order the album

A message from the Swarte Eyysel collaboration SUOL is part of tells us more about the pre-order.

At once prudently traditional and brazenly unorthodox, SUOL’s iteration of black metal simmers and shimmers, flooding the senses in a fever dream of passion, violence and ancient folklore. Let these six songs take you on a path from Zwolle across the IJssel river towards the Zuiderzee, past arsonist robber barons, shore devils, black shadows, devoured villages and strung-up murderers.

The self-titled album will be released digitally and on digipak. A limited run of T-shirts is also available! Pre-orders available immediately at www.swarteyssel.com

To celebrate this new release we decided to offer a big discount storewide! Each order from 30 euro’s and up will qualify for a 20% discount! Yes, this also goes for the new Suol release!

Besides that we have decided to run a limited run of Dinbethes merchandise! T-shirts and longsleeves are now available in the webshop!

About Lord Volture

LORD VOLTURE are a Dutch heavy metal outfit in the tradition of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Iced Earth, led by vocalist David Marcelis. After an explosive take-off in 2010 with the release of debut album ‘Beast of Thunder’ (feat. Jeff Waters of Annihilator) the band rapidly rose to find themselves in the frontier of the Dutch heavy metal scene.

With their follow-up releases ‘Never Cry Wolf’ (feat. Sean Peck of Cage) in 2011 and “Will to Power” (Mausoleum Records, feat. Chris Poland, ex-Megadeth) in 2014 the band set their definitive style while increasingly gaining recognition everywhere they were heard. With all three albums being well received by reviewers worldwide, LORD VOLTURE have gained significant presence in the global metal community. This massive exposure opened doors to many festivals and support slots. As a result, LORD VOLTURE have shared the stage with Y&T, Primal Fear, Firewind, Sanctuary, Circle II Circle, Tim Ripper Owens, Blaze Bayley, Vicious Rumors, Blitzkrieg and numerous others, while touring through the larger part of Europe.

From the British Isles to eastern Europe and from the Baltics to the Mediterranean, LORD VOLTURE have made their mark. Now, with a new line-up, LORD VOLTURE are promoting their first live album entitled “Live ’em Up!”. The band is sharper than ever before and ready to unleash more high-pitched power vocals, mind boggling guitar solos and pure unpolished heavy metal onto the world. For all who bear a heart of steel, LORD VOLTURE is a definite MUST!

Disquiet parts with bass player

Frank van Boven will part ways with Disquiet. Below is the message the band posted on facebook.

We are extremely thankful for all his attributions to the band the past 8 years. A great bassplayer, rocking stage-animal, professional beer drinker and most important a lovely person! We wish Frank all the best in life!🤟

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸:

‘I am laying down my bass duties for Disquiet.

Since becoming a part of Disquiet back in 2015, we’ve played lots of great shows together, recently released an amazing record called ‘Instigate to Annihilate’ (in case you missed it) of which I am super proud of and in all these years, I had an amazing time with these guys: playing awesome music, drinking beer, and having a blast. Unfortunately, this adventure has now come to an end…

The combination of getting older, becoming a parent of two of the best kids anyone can wish for and losing a close friend (on stage) made me rethink my (personal) life and my priorities. Although there are no personal struggles, no fights, no musical disalignments, I have come to peace with the fact that I am not able to live up to the expectations and to deliver to the level that Disquiet deserves, expects, and requires.

Don’t worry, we’re not done rocking just yet! I am still very active with the Slayer tributeband Player and of course death metal band Beyond the Pale. \m/

I wish the guys from Disquiet all the best, and even though I will not be a part the band anymore, I will always support them. And drink beers together!

Raise your horns for Disquiet!

Metal greetings’ 🤟

Frank van Boven

Lord Volture reveal ‘Live ‘Em Up!’ album details and cover artwork

Here it is, the next and long overdue LORD VOLTURE release! ‘Live ’em Up!’ will be released on 12th October 2023 via Freya Records.

The new live album

Live ’em Up! was recorded at various gigs and tours in Europe during the first decade in the existence of LORD VOLTURE. To be specific, it contains tracks from our sets at SOS Festival 2014 in Manchester, UK, from Wizzfest 2016 in Lotenhulle, Belgium, and from De Verlichte Geest in Roeselare, also Belgium, recorded while we were on the Reign Of Darkness Over Europe Tour with CIRCLE II CIRCLE in 2016. The audience samples used on this album were taken from recordings and fan footage of roughly 60 different European Lord Volture shows.

Especially in the years 2012-2016 the band was on the road a lot, playing close to 200 shows across 19 different countries. Some of the highlights of that period include our European tours in support of CIRCLE II CIRCLE and TIM RIPPER OWENS, festival appearances such as SOS Festival in Manchester and Wildfire Festival in Scotland, opening for established acts like Y&T, SANCTUARY, PRIMAL FEAR and FIREWIND, and delivering the steel to remote places in countries such as Lithuania, Estonia, Slovakia, Spain and Ireland. So many adventures lie in our past and so many others are yet to come. Playing live in front of our fans was, is and ever will be one of our greatest pleasures. We believe that we were able to capture that same energy on this live record. So, set your volume to 11, and Live ‘em Up!

Tracklist:

This was: Achterhoeks Metalfest

Saturday may 21st was the perfect weather for a metal festival. Those who got to go to Achterhoeks Metalfest got to enjoy some nice bands in awesome weather. Even though most people came for the headliner Napalm Death, all the other bands killed it on stage too. It was good to see the next metal generation rocking it as well <3. Richard Snijder took some pictures to give you all an impression of the vibe at the festival. See you there next time!
