Although they hail from the Netherlands (where they first formed in 1997, in the town Zeist), Detonation perform melodic death metal in the vein of Swedish acts like and . Featuring vocalist and guitarist Koen Romeijn, guitarist Mike Ferguson, bassist Otto Schimmelpenninck, and drummer Thomas Kalksma, the group financed both 1998’s Crushed Skull and 1999’s Lost Euphoria EPs themselves before eventually hooking up with France’s Osmose Productions for a pair of albums, 2003’s An Epic Defiance and 2005’s Portals to Uphobia. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi

Martyr is a Utrecht heavy metal band that has existed since 1982. During the existence a couple of demo cassettes were released, as well as a number of long players. The general public first became acquainted with Martyr in 1985, when the song “En Masse (Stand Or Die)” appeared on the collective album “Metal Massacre VI” of the legendary American label Metal Blade. Other greats on this record included Possessed, Hallow’s Eve, Dark Angel, The Obsessed, Hirax, Hades and Nasty Savage.

The debut album “For The Universe” from the same year is still considered a classic in heavy metal circles. For example, the leading website “Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives” wrote the following about this album: “Martyr’s songwriting is vastly superior to most of its competitors”. In 2014 the group was honored at the “Dutch Steel (80’s Metal From The Netherlands)” collector for Martyr’s contribution to Dutch heavy metal history. E.e.a. Utrecht mayor Jan van Zanen has also noticed, he sent the group a personal letter in early 2018 to thank Martyr for their ambassadorship for the city.

The group frequently at home and abroad, as a headliner or as support act for a better-known act within the heavy metal spectrum (for example as support for ex-Iron Maiden singers Paul Di’Anno and Blaze Bayley, Trivium, Iced Earth, Manila Road, Lizzy Borden, Raven and Saxon). The absolute highlights in Martyr’s career so far have been their 3 tours in Japan, which featured delirious crowds.

Dutch brutal force BURIAL REMAINS spews forth old school death metal the Swedish way. Formed in 2017 to honor the legacy of ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, GRAVE and CARNAGE, the band quickly grew into an entity of its own, playing leading underground events like Pitfest, Schoonebeek Deathfest and Drachten Deathfest.

With ‘Trinity Of Deception’ (2019), the band gained the attention of the international metal underground, having Sven (R.I.P.) of the mighty FLESHCRAWL performing vocal duties on the album. The year 2019 saw bassplayer Henk (formerly of GOD DETHRONED and ENTRAPMENT) joining the ranks followed by the release of ‘Spawn Of Chaos’ by the infamous Raw Skull Recordz. With the second album, the band stepped up their game, delivering an even more ferocious piece of HM2-ridden depravity.

In 2021, the band paid tribute to their fallen friend Sven by releasing the ‘As Blood Rains From The Sky’-EP, that includes a cover version of the eponymous FLESHCRAWL-classic as well as a brand new song. While continuing to play selective shows, the band has commenced writing the third album and prepares for the next chapter of chaos!

Bio:

nThe Dutch melodic metal outfit, Disquiet, represents an international sound, combining Bay Area oriented thrash with Scandinavian death metal elements. Tight rhythmic guitars supported by captivating harmonies, aggressive grooves and melodic guitar solos, create the perfect bed for the intense and diverse vocals of lead singer Sean Maia. His sharp criticism about lust for power and the destructive behavior of mankind echoes throughout the songs and guides you through the raging, hyper-energetic and often emotional landscape that is Disquiet. The music has a distinctive tone and feel, offering plenty of room for musicality and technique in the form of harmonies, grooves, solos and twin solos. The songs demonstrate the band’s versatility, each representing a unique story on it’s own. The band knows exactly how to channel these stories and their energy live on stage with a crushing show that moves the audience intensely. In 2012 the band released its first full-length album, “Scars of Undying Grief” (Indie). The reactions in the media were highly appreciative, opening the door to larger stages such as Wacken Open Air. Aardschok Magazine: “Disquiet’s debut album is better than many of the established order.” In 2013 they conquered the metal scene in Suriname with a big festival headlining show. Their 2016 album, “The Condemnation” (Soulseller Records) gained favorable reviews and was followed by a UK tour. Rocktribune: “Unique and modern sound; a thrash album hard to beat this year”. After a number of years of national and international performances, sharing the stage with acts such as Arch Enemy and Annihilator as well as a successful European tour with old school death metal legends Six Feet Under at the end of 2018, Disquiet was eager for more and determined to push itself to a next level for their new album. With the latest album “Instigate to Annihilate” (not yet released), Disquiet takes you to the far reaches of thrash and melodic death metal, offering you epic heights. The band shows its determination to challenge itself and explore new dimensions like collaborations with vocalists Charlotte Wessels (ex-Delain) and Vicky Psarakis (The Agonist), guitarist Damir Eskic (Destruction) and Koen Romeijn (Heidevolk) and even an instrumental song for the first time. Even with all the innovations, Disquiet has not lost its focus: Ferocious and crushing riffs, catchy sing-along choruses, and hints of old school thrash with uplifting rhythms that take you into the critical message called Disquiet.n“},{“box”:1,”content”:” [if 48 not_like=””][/if 48]n
