Do you like a good dosis of ‘BLEGH’, tea-whistles and low gutturals? BRACES got you covered! Their debut album ‘Ugly World’ immediately gave me a huge stankface within the first 30 seconds.

It really surprises me how high the bar is set within the Dutch metal scene. The production quality of albums coming out the last couple of years, just shows we got A LOT of talented musicians in this tiny country! BRACES from Tilburg is definitely one of them. You want Deathcore, you will GET Deathcore.

Ugly World

Although their debut album already was released back in March, it already has a fair share of streams on Spotify. With bangers like ’Null’ & ’28’ you get all the rage you’d expect from this genre.

The EP starts out strong and when the first ‘BLEGH’ was heard like the Horn of Helm Hammerhand, you know there will be a breakdown from the depths of Deathcore. In all fairness, there wasn’t one song on this EP I didn’t like. The vocal control is excellent, the instruments are tight, the songs are well-written and it really shows what this band is made of. The only thing I had to get used to was the changes of rhythm while listening to the songs. This genre isn’t on my daily playlist in either case, that was just something I had to get used to.

My favorite and the shortest song on this album has got to be ‘Oblivion’: aggressive, great bass sound (is that a Dingwall I hear?) & a great combination of destroying everything that comes across your path and to catch your breath after. The songwriting is excellent in my opinion and the breakdown is just a chef’s kiss.

Final Thoughts

What can I say more? In a word just listen to this great, great debut album and turn into a new Deathcore fangirly like me.
