De Nederlandse death/thrash metalband Beyond the Pale is niet te stoppen. Ze komen opnieuw met een voorproefje van hun langverwachte EP ‘Monument in Time’ die op 27 april verschijnt. De single “Storm en Drift” is opnieuw opgenomen omdat Janneke de Rooy in 2021 de zangeres van de band werd. Ook deze single is vergezeld van een videoclip. En die zou zomaar eens in de geschiedenisboeken kan komen te staan onder het kopje ‘nostalgie’.

DB’s

Het bijzondere aan de video is dat die is gefilmd op het dak van dB’s, het thuishonk van de band. Op moment van schrijven is dB’s nog gesitueerd in het iconische CAB-gebouw in Utrecht. Eind deze maand verhuist dB’s naar een nieuwe locatie in het Werkspoorkwartier. Daarmee verdwijen de oefenstudio’s, concertzaal en het muziekcafé op de huidige plek.

Passend bij de titel van de EP, wilde de band dB’s op de huidige locatie vastleggen voordat het voorgoed verdwijnt. De kijker krijgt onder andere een laatste blik van de vertrouwde foyer te zien. Vervolgens gaan we langs de bar door de lange gang van oefenruimtes, om te eindigen in de allerlaatste ruimte achterin. Hiermee biedt de clip een uniek kijkje achter de schermen van deze vermaarde undergroundlocatie.

“De beelden van dB’s zullen waarschijnlijk een nostalgische snaar raken bij onze fans. Een beetje vergelijkbaar met opnames die destijds zijn gemaakt in Tivoli Oudegracht, ook zo’n legendarisch podium dat er niet meer is“, aldus de band.

Storm en Drift

De single “Storm en Drift” met bijbehorende videoclip gaat 11 april om 21:00 uur in première op YouTube: 

Het is de tweede single die Beyond The Pale uitbrengt in aanloop naar de release van hun EP ‘Monument in Time’. Die werd opgenomen en gemixt in Mass Audio Studios te Utrecht (Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy, Charlotte Wessels van Delain, Bloodgod, Mark Jansen van Epica en Mayan, Daniël de Jongh van Textures en Karmaflow, Metropool Orkest, etc).

De nummers werden gemastered door Fascination Street Studios in Zweden (At the Gates, Sepultura, Amon Amarth, Carcass, Kreator, Sakis Tolis, Dark Tranquility, Devin Townsend, etc).

De EP komt beschikbaar op alle grote streaming platforms en als digitale albumdownload, limited edition handgenummerde CD’s en 12″ deluxe gatefold vinyl op zwart en gekleurd vinyl.

As you might already know, MetalFromNL is my passion project. I believe there are so many talented Dutch metal bands, that don’t get the attention they deserve. Part of this is that the Dutch metalscene is still a bit scattered. People from Groningen probably never heard this amazing band that plays in Zeeland, and vice versa. 

Metal From NL aims to change that, by promoting the whole Dutch metalscene. Small bands that just released their first demo get the same exposure as band that are on the 2nd European tour. We share it all. We interview, we review, we go gigs. We maintain a calendar with all gigs (however small) in the Netherlands, from Dutch bands and of course other metalbands as well. Where else to find your fellow metalheads, or possibly new bandmembers?  

We host a bi-weekly podcast with the 10 freshest tracks from Dutch Soil. We keep various playlists on Spotify, as well as a playlist on Youtube. And we try to communicate that all through social media and our website. 

But if I say ‘WE”, I mean ‘WE’ as a brand. It’s basically just me. Nicky  

It’s now grown to a point that I would like a few of you to help me out with all of this. And while it’s a bit scary to let go, I think it’s for the better of the platform. I’m currently looking for people to help me with writing reviews and keeping up with socials (Discord, Whatsapp).

I cannot offer you anything but the occasional concert ticket, so you’d need to be at least a little bit crazy and dedicated (like me!) Because I try to get our Dutch metal bands attention outside of our Dutch borders as well, make it as broad as possible, I tend to write most reviews in English. Your English skills need to be up for that. Other than that, time an of course a love for Metal is probably all you need!

I’ll Get By is een melodische hardcore band uit Utrecht. De band bestaat uit Ward (vocals), Wessel (gitaar), Jerry (gitaar), Joost (drums) en Marijn (bas). Ze halen hun inspiratie uit verschillende hoeken, maar het moet vooral hard zijn. De band heeft een tijdje stil gelegen, onder andere door wat wisselingen in de band. In 2023 kwam lead vocalist Ward bij de band. En na een tussenpauze van 2 jaar kwam de band in 2023 weer helemaal terug met optredens op Into the Core fest en nieuwe muziek. Dat ze terug zijn bewijzen ze door nu in de finale van de Wacken Metal Battle te staan. 

I’ll Get By staat garant voor een energieke live show, dikke gitaar riffs en meeslepende teksten. Check dat vooral zelf op Spotify en zorg dat je de teksten kent voor de finale van de Metal Battle op 20 april in Estrado, Harderwijk!

This long awaited progressive metal album, with a lot of old school death influences, is just over 45 min long and totals 6 tracks, including the previously released Conspiracy and Dawn of the New Age.
