Baas was the second band to enter the battlefield during the Wacken Metal Battle finals. They got the crowd going and put on a great show. I’m talking about the Zieldoder & Magistraal black metal split EP: Be Silent Like The Night/Fantoom of the Beemsterburcht from Dutch soil of course.
This week’s review is the Zieldoder & Magistraal split EP. Magistraal, a duo with nothing to less information to find about them. I quote from their bio on Spotify: ‘In reality, the duo (originating from the Netherlands) does not want to reveal much about themselves.’ The duo started in the 90’s but ‘reawakened’ themselves in 2023. Zieldoder is as mysterious as their split EP companion. Hiding behind masks, we don’t really know who they are or where they come from besides the Netherlands.
Ja hoor, netjes op tijd, de MetalFromNL Tiplijst! Geen hele volle lijst deze week, 8 tracks in totaal, en zoals je van ons gewend bent gaat het weer een beetje alle kanten op qua genres. Het is dit keer echter wel vooral deathcore wat de klok slaat, het blijft toch een beetje het genre van het moment.
Voor de volgende editie over twee weken heb ik nog weinig op de lijst staan, dus weet je iets wat uitkomt of breng je zelf iets uit in de komende twee weken, tag ons even op socials of stuur ons een berichtje!

Godenbloed crawled to the surface after the world ended on 21-12-2012. Cursing the leaden sky they vowed to defile the deafening silence by combining black metal and post metal together with sludge to forge an unholy cacophony of despair.
Godenbloed means “Blood of the gods” and is a reference to the countless legends of the power associated with the blood of gods.

KFFR was born as DeadBeat in 2005.
After several years of laziness and boredom drummer Jos and guitarist Pedro hooked up once again after slashing the world to pieces with their former bands, the ungodly Desolation and brutal Zymotic.
They recruted former The Hype member Basterd for the position of bass player. In this formation DeadBeat wrote a couple of old-school tracks and performed them also live in places like The Cave (Amsterdam) and R17 (Grootebroek).
After a year singer/guitarist Pedro decided he wanted to focus only on the guitar and DeadBeat found a brutal true metal singer in the form of Michel. This giant front-man, who also emerges from Dead-area West-Friesland, immediately fitted into the thrashy style of old-school metal that DeadBeat plays.
After discovering some more bands as well as a record label with the name DeadBeat, the decision was made to change the band name. Short but straight, without anybody knowing what it means: KFFR was born (again).

The Wacken Metal Battle finals were a lot of fun. I’ll Get By literally kicked of the night by putting on an energetic live performance. In case you missed it, we did an interview with all the finalists as well! Check that out here:

Anchillys started out as a solo project, but has since then formed a complete band an performed at various gigs throughout the Netherlands. Currently the band is working on new music and perfecting their stage performance. I didn’t get too many good shots, but at least you can clearly see the lessons in headbanging we got from these guys.
There it is! We have been waiting for this EP to drop since the EP releaseparty back in March in Vorstin, Hilversum. Today, the debut EP for Dutch Deathmetal band Beyond the Pale has finally been released. They of course could have only released this EP on the 27th in memory of Jeroen.
