Velozza is an old-school thrashmetal band from Limburg, the Netherlands. They released their album Apocaholic during the covid lockdown and because of that, it maybe hasn’t had a much attention as it could have. We are of course happy to give it a listen and tell the world what we think.
ZubZero released their first demo ‘Lost Sun’ a while ago and I finally got to it today. ZubZero is a thrashmetal band from the Netherlands and they have been around a while. In May this year they released a new demo called ‘Lost Sun’. The demo is available through bandcamp and you can even get a physical copy if you want through Big Bad Wolf records.

From blissful ambience to crushing blast beats, Illuster sets out to combine the extreme with the serene. FFO: Cult of Luna, Alcest, Deafheaven.
Illuster was founded in 2016 by Luuk Derksen, who was inspired by the diverse and touching songwriting of bands such as Cult of Luna, Alcest and Deafheaven. He set out to find likeminded musicians while writing songs that served as the basis for the debut EP. In 2018 the core of the band was founded in Haarlem, The Netherlands. Together they set out to elevate the songs that were written and bring them to life on the debut release called ‘Iridescent’, which comes out in the Fall of 2019.
‘Iridescent’ explores the experiences and memories that shape a person’s life. Compelling songs delivered by introspective lyrics, dreamy melodies, ambient soundscapes and heavy riffs form the basis of the dynamic songs that are heard on ‘Iridescent’.

A wide spectrum of different influences of each band member creates its own refreshing and inspiring atmosphere. This range can be heard on each song. Not just between them separately, but within the songs as well. Embracing their risky but unique concept, they in a way give the finger to having a brutal name and being stereotypical metal.
Ever since ‘Warren of Necrosis’ was released, the band has widened their territory and have crawled through the burrows to gain their spot in the Dutch metal scene. Their single ‘Taken by the Devil’ marked the beginning of a new era and thus started the process of growing into the vicious, bloodthirsty rodents they are today

This fragment from their song ‘Barrier Breached’ is something that the band certainly lives up. The Frontiers are known for their energetic live performances, in which they like to party hard. To these guys from Rotterdam there is nothing better than playing their signature Heavy Rock ‘n’ Roll music.
The power quartet consists of loud frontman, singer and bassist Tim van den Bogaerdt, fast lead guitarists Thijs van der Sluijs and Dennis Hoek, and pounding drummer Rik Lamers.
2022 saw the release of four new singles, being D.M., Circles (Part I), Rebound and Volcano. These songs have become an essential part of their live shows.
Always ready to play, they are guaranteed to kick some ass. Earplugs are advised, because the volume will be turned up to eleven and the ceiling will be blown off!

Dream Map is a symphonic metal project by an international musical duo from Hungary and the Netherlands, which has found its origins on the internet. The project was launched by Norbert Gobor, a music composer and multi-instrumentalist from Hungary.
Norbert Gobor is a film, tv and game music composer, with several credits on MTV, MTV2, VH1, Animal Planet, Discovery, Travel Channel and CNBC. His work includes credits for the MTV series ‘Fear Factor’, Animal Planet series ‘Amanda to the Rescue’, Travel Channel series ‘Ghost Bait’ and for CNBC’s American Greed: Deadly Rich TV series. Norbert is not just a composer, but also a sound engineer and a multi-instrumentalist (piano, synths, guitars, bass and drums).
In search of a singer and writer he approached Vivian Franken, a singer/songwriter from the Netherlands, who soon joined the project.
Vivian Franken started her music career as a cover artist in 2012. In 2017 she released her first original song, ‘For all of us’ under the pseudonym ‘Viv Shortie’. She continues to write under this name and mainly focuses her lyrics on societal topics. She believes that, since music is a universal language, this is the perfect gateway to educate people and raise awareness. Dream Map was a new and exciting challenge for her, one the singer took on with much enthusiasm.
The Dream Map duo started working on songs in late 2019 and after experimenting with composing and writing, plans were struck to work on their first album. Norbert and Vivian worked remotely on the album recordings! Their debut album ‘The Other Side’ is to be released on May 21, 2021. With story-like lyrics, a haunting voice and a clever combination of symphonic elements and heavy metal elements, Dream Map will take you on a magical journey through their carefully created dream land. Like in a true fairy-tale, the journey will not always be prosperous, but that makes it all the more exciting.
